This is another magic waterhole...do you see a pattern forming here???? There are so many birds here as this is very likely the only water for many miles. We saw Corella's, Galah's, many different Parrots and Wag Tails and Plovers and yes, we photographed them all. We're burnin' daylight as the old saying goes and we'll be in Birdsville this afternoon... so ....in order to do that we have to leave this place.

The Historic Woolshed on Cordillo Downs is well worth a look and some of the old machinery inside is also interesting. Cordillo no longer runs sheep as they are a cattle property, but the history is preserved for all to see. We came upon this "Camper Trailer" on the road on the Northern side of the homestead......a reminder that this is a notoriously rough track.
The road improved North of the homestead |
That's Queensland over there |
QLD -SA Border |
Birdsville is in here somewhere........ |
Back in Queensland again and Birdsville is just the same as we remembered it.....we know of a ripper bush camp with a warm fresh water bore about 80 k's North of Birdsville, but we wanted to do some laundry so we decided to stay at the Caravan Park. Have you noticed that this was the first night in a caravan park since we left Armidale some weeks ago???? At an average of $25.00 per night that is a saving of around $175.00 per week. It adds up if you're on the road for a few weeks...10 weeks = $1750.00 and that buys a bit of fuel.
